Product Summary

A stainless steel gate valve, threaded, in cast 316 (CF8M), rated 200 WOG (200 psi), sizes 1/2″–2″ with female PT (taper) threads. The multi-turn handwheel raises a solid gate clear of the bore — full flow when open, and slow closing that avoids water hammer. PTFE packing, -20 °C to +80 °C, designed to ANSI B16.34 and tested to API 598.

Product Description

The J41W-200R is a threaded stainless steel gate valve in cast 316 (ASTM A351 CF8M), rated 200 WOG (200 psi), sizes 1/2″ to 2″ with female PT (taper pipe) threads. Turning the handwheel raises or lowers a solid wedge gate — when fully open the gate clears the bore completely, so flow is unrestricted and pressure drop is near zero.

A gate valve is the right choice where a valve stays fully open or fully closed for long periods and a clear, full bore matters — unlike a ball valve, the multi-turn handwheel closes slowly, which avoids the water hammer a fast quarter-turn can cause. Body, cap, disc and stem are 316 stainless with a PTFE gasket and V-ring packing, tested to API 598 and designed to ANSI B16.34.

Advantages & Benefits

  • Full clear bore: the gate lifts completely out of the flow path, so an open valve adds almost no pressure drop.
  • No water hammer: the multi-turn handwheel closes slowly, avoiding the pressure surge a fast-closing valve can cause on long liquid lines.
  • 316 stainless throughout: CF8M body and 316 stem resist corrosion in water, marine and chemical service.
  • API 598 tested: every valve is shell- and seat-tested before shipment.

Applications

  • Domestic water risers and floor branches, 2″ and under — isolation points that stay open for years.
  • Pump suction and discharge block valves — the full bore keeps suction losses low.
  • General utility branch shutoff — hot and cold water, gas and other plant services.
  • Irrigation and agricultural water — pump station outlets and zone isolation.
  • Plant and facility utility piping — process and utility branch lines, not main transmission.
  • Marine and shipboard utility piping — freshwater, fuel and air lines with screwed ends.
  • Water and wastewater plants — small-bore utility, backwash and drain branches.
  • On/off service only — a gate valve is not for throttling; it is either fully open or fully closed.

For quarter-turn shutoff on the same lines, see the one-piece ball valve; for the difference between the two, read Ball Valve vs Gate Valve.

FAQ

Gate valve or ball valve — which should I use? A gate valve gives a fully clear bore and closes slowly with a multi-turn handwheel, so it avoids water hammer — best where the valve stays open or closed for long periods. A ball valve is a fast quarter-turn on/off. For threaded ball valves, see our stainless steel valve range.

What size and pressure is it? Sizes 1/2″ to 2″ (DN15–DN50), rated 200 WOG (200 psi). Body and disc are cast 316 stainless (CF8M).

Which thread does it use? Female PT (taper pipe) threads are in stock, sizes 1/2″–2″; NPT and PF can be made to order — tell us which standard your piping uses when you request a quote.

What is the operating temperature? -20 °C to +80 °C, with the PTFE packing and gasket setting the practical limit.

Is it tested? Yes — designed to ANSI B16.34 and tested to API 598 (shell 2.0 MPa, seat 1.6 MPa) before shipment.

What is the minimum order? No minimum order quantity — we accept orders of any size, including small trial orders. For small orders, freight is arranged and paid by the buyer. Payment is by T/T — 30% on order confirmation, 70% before shipment.
