Product Name
Electric Valve Actuator with Battery Backup
Product Summary
Motorised Shut-Off That Closes Itself When the Power Goes Out.
Electric ball valve actuator with a built-in lithium battery backup, for quarter-turn ball valves in 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″ and 1-1/4″ — one actuator size covers all five. AC 110V/220V/380V single phase (YZ-25-AC) or DC 24V/48V (YZ-25-DC). On/off control with dry-contact feedback, 3-second full travel, LCD battery indicator, approximately 5,000 operations per charge. On power loss, the battery drives the valve to the fully closed position — no air supply, no spring, no plant UPS. Indoor installation.
Manufacturer since 1999
Product Summary
The YZNG TRONG electric valve actuator automates on/off operation of quarter-turn ball valves in 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″ and 1-1/4″ — the same actuator body drives all five sizes. This electric actuator accepts AC 110V, 220V or 380V (single phase), or DC 24V or 48V. When mains power is lost, the built-in lithium battery drives the valve to the fully closed position — the line shuts, without an air supply, a spring, or an external UPS.
A full charge is good for approximately 5,000 operations, and full travel takes 3 seconds, open to close. An LCD on the actuator shows the battery level, and wiring runs through an aviation plug connector, so a technician can connect or disconnect without opening the cover.
What Happens When the Power Fails
This is the question that decides the purchase, so here is the direct answer: the valve closes. The lithium battery inside the actuator holds enough charge for approximately 5,000 operations on a full charge — so it is not a one-shot emergency reserve, it keeps working through repeated outages. No compressed air, no spring pack, no plant-wide UPS.
The alternatives work differently. A spring return needs no electricity at all, but it is limited by the spring. A supercapacitor holds charge only briefly. An external UPS is a plant-level investment, not a feature of the valve. A battery inside the actuator keeps the shut-off function in the actuator itself, which is why it suits dosing lines, drain lines and skids where an uncontrolled valve position is the thing you cannot allow.

Applications
- Wastewater and sewage treatment: dosing and drain lines where the valve has to close on power loss. An open valve during an outage means overflow, and an environmental penalty with it. See our water treatment applications.
- Industrial process lines: on/off duty where no compressed air is available — the usual reason to choose electric over pneumatic actuation. Returning to the closed position on power loss avoids line stoppage and equipment damage. See our industrial applications.
- Electronics and hi-tech facility piping: cooling water, compressed air and general utility lines inside a climate-controlled plant — the environment this actuator is rated for, at 0 °C to 45 °C indoors. See our semiconductor valve applications.
- Food and beverage processing lines: scheduled open–close cycles under PLC control. See our food and beverage applications.
- OEM machine builders: designed in as a component on a skid or panel, where price, lead time and local service decide the specification.
Pairing the Actuator with a Valve
This product is the actuator only. This ball valve actuator fits quarter-turn ball valves in 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″ and 1-1/4″, and one actuator body covers all five sizes — for example our two-piece stainless ball valve or three-piece ball valve, both of which have an ISO 5211 mounting pad. Tell us the valve size and end connection you need and we will quote the actuator and valve as one assembly. If you need position feedback in the control panel, add a limit switch box.
FAQ
What happens to the valve if main power fails?
The built-in lithium battery drives the valve to the fully closed position. A full charge is good for approximately 5,000 operations, so the valve keeps closing through repeated outages — it is not a single-shot emergency reserve.
Do I need a UPS for my valve actuator?
Not for this one. The backup battery is inside the actuator, so the shut-off function does not depend on a plant-wide uninterruptible power supply. An external UPS keeps the whole control system alive; this actuator only needs to guarantee that the valve closes, and it carries its own energy to do that.
How many times can the battery operate the valve after a power cut?
Approximately 5,000 operations on a full charge. The battery is not a single-shot emergency reserve — it keeps the valve working through repeated outages, and an LCD on the actuator shows the remaining level.
How fast does the actuator open and close the valve?
3 seconds for full travel, open to close.
Which valve sizes does this actuator fit?
Five sizes: 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″ and 1-1/4″ quarter-turn ball valves. The same actuator body drives all five, so you do not need a different actuator for each size. Tell us the valve size and end connection and we will quote the actuator and valve together.
What voltages does this actuator support?
AC 110V, 220V or 380V (single phase) — model YZ-25-AC. Or DC 24V or 48V — model YZ-25-DC.
What torque does the actuator deliver?
Maximum torque is 20 N·m for both output gear sizes. Rated torque depends on the gear: 14 mm is rated 10 N·m, 9–11 mm is rated 3 N·m.
Can I install this actuator outdoors?
No. It is designed for indoor installation. The lithium battery inside is not rated for outdoor temperature swings, and the operating range is 0 °C to 45 °C.
Is this a complete electric ball valve, or just the actuator?
The actuator only, sold separately from the valve body. We can supply it mounted on a ball valve as a complete assembly — tell us the valve size and end connection when you request a quote.
How is the actuator wired?
Through an aviation plug connector, which lets a technician connect or disconnect the wiring without removing the actuator cover. Signal output is a dry contact giving open and close feedback.
