Butt weld ends are welded end-to-end onto the pipe, giving a connection as strong as the pipe itself and a smooth bore with no internal pockets. It is a reduced port valve: the bore is smaller than the pipe bore, which keeps the body compact. If the line needs a full-bore welded valve, see the 3-piece extended butt weld valve below. The PTFE seat handles general-purpose media, and the lever handle shows open or closed at a glance.
