Valve Actuator Manufacturer: What One Factory Building Both Changes for You

A valve actuator manufacturer builds the actuator that drives a valve. When the same company also casts the ball valve, the interface between them, the ISO 5211 mounting pad, the stem coupling, the wiring or the air fitting, is matched before either part leaves the building, rather than reconciled afterward by whoever receives two separate boxes.

This article is for buyers, OEM integrators and engineers deciding how to source an automated ball valve: buy the valve and the actuator from two specialists and match them yourself, or buy both from a company that makes them together. We build both, at YZNG TRONG, a stainless steel ball valve manufacturer and valve automation company in Taiwan. Here is what that setup gets you on fit, paperwork and lead time.

What a valve actuator manufacturer is

A valve actuator manufacturer builds the actuator that drives a valve. Some, like us, also build the valve itself. Buying both from one company is one way to source an automated valve; buying the valve and actuator from two separate specialists and matching them yourself is the other. For a standard on/off duty in stainless, one supplier is usually the simpler route.

We make our own actuators, and we also cast and CNC machine the ball valve they mount on: a ball valve manufacturer that builds its own actuators, not a valve maker reselling someone else’s drive.

Two ways to buy an automated valve

There are two ways to buy an automated ball valve: source the valve and the actuator from two specialists and match them yourself, or source both from one manufacturer that builds them together. The first gives you a free choice of actuator brand for every line. The second gives you one point of contact and a mounting interface that was matched before anything shipped.

Source the actuator separately when your specification calls for a particular actuator brand. Our actuators are built for on/off and positioner-controlled duty on stainless ball valves from 3/8″ to 4″. For a standard on/off duty in a stainless valve size we already carry, buying the valve and the actuator together removes a coordination step you would otherwise own yourself.

The ball valve and the actuators we build

The valve side is stainless steel: CF8 (cast 304) or CF8M (cast 316) bodies, specified under ASTM A351, the specification for austenitic stainless steel castings. For the manufacturing side of that, casting, CNC machining and testing, see our ball valve manufacturing article; this one is about the actuators.

We make our own actuators, both types. As a pneumatic actuator manufacturer, we build the rack-and-pinion actuator that mounts on our V-3AM and other pneumatic valve series. As an electric valve actuator manufacturer, we build the electric actuator with battery backup. Pick by utility: compressed air on site, choose pneumatic; power only, choose electric. The table below compares the two in detail.

Point of comparisonElectric actuator (YZ-25-AC / YZ-25-DC)Pneumatic actuator (on V-3AM and other pneumatic series)

Choosing between them is mostly a question of what utilities you have on site and what has to happen if you lose one of them. Our دليل اختيار مشغلات الصمامات covers torque sizing and fail position in more depth than fits here, and if a manual gear operator is also on your shortlist, our gear operator vs electric actuator comparison lays that choice out separately.

What ships assembled

On our pneumatic 3-piece ball valve with actuator (V-3AM), the actuator is mounted on the valve at our factory. The valve and actuator are assembled and tested before shipping, then ship together as one unit. There is no bracket or coupling for you to source and align. Tell us if you need the same for a different valve series and we will confirm what applies.

What to send us before you request a quote

Clipboard with a technical checklist, a digital caliper and a laptop on an office desk

Send the items below with your inquiry and we can quote the automated valve accurately the first time.

العنصرWhat to tell usWhy it changes the quote
Power source on siteCompressed air pressure available, or the AC/DC voltage you runDecides electric vs pneumatic, and which actuator model fits your supply
Fail positionWhat the valve must do if power or air is lost: stay put, fail open, or fail closedAn electric actuator closes on power loss; a pneumatic spring return actuator fails to whichever position you order it for
Mounting interfaceTell us if you already hold an actuator and need the valve to match its padConfirms whether a direct ISO 5211 mount works or a bracket and linkage kit is needed
الملحقاتSolenoid valve, position switch box, or neitherThese can be included in the same quote when specified up front

These four items are specific to buying the valve and actuator together. For the rest of what a complete RFQ needs, valve size and body type, pressure and temperature, medium, duty cycle, protection rating, see the RFQ checklist in our دليل اختيار مشغلات الصمامات, or our general RFQ guide.

Mismatches that stall a project

Watch for these six mismatches when specifying an automated valve.

  • Ordering the wrong solenoid valve. A double acting actuator needs a 5/2 way solenoid; a spring return actuator needs a 3/2 way. Order the wrong one and the valve will not cycle. If you are not sure which actuator you have, send us the model and we will tell you which solenoid it takes.
  • Assuming any actuator bolts onto any valve. ISO 5211 pads come in different sizes, F03 through F10 on our pneumatic series. A mismatch does not mean the parts are incompatible, it means you need a bracket and stem coupling kit rather than a direct mount.
  • Missing the ambient temperature limit. The electric actuator is rated 0°C to 45°C, indoor installation only, because the lithium battery is not built for outdoor swings. For unheated outdoor sites, specify the pneumatic actuator, rated -20°C to +80°C.
  • Reading a certification as if it covers the whole assembly. Our ball valves carry CE marking. Ask which specific part of an assembly a certification applies to before you rely on it for a purchase order or an audit.
  • Choosing spring return without deciding the fail position. A spring return actuator fails to a preset position, open or closed. Decide the fail position before you place the order.
  • Assuming the acting type can be changed later. Spring return or double acting is specified when you place the order. Once the actuator has shipped, that cannot be changed in the field, so decide DA or SR before you order, not after installation.

Accessories that complete the package

An automated valve is rarely just the valve and the actuator. We also make three accessories built to the same NAMUR and ISO 5211 interfaces: a solenoid valve, a limit switch box, and a mounting bracket kit.

ال صمام الملف اللولبي NAMUR bolts directly onto the NAMUR interface on top of a pneumatic actuator, with no tubing between them. Every pneumatic actuator we build carries that interface, which is why the solenoid, the actuator and the valve can ship as one assembled package. It comes in 5/2 way for double acting and 3/2 way for spring return, runs on 1 to 8 bar air, and the enclosure is rated IP67 under IEC 60529, the standard that defines what an IP rating means: dust-tight, and able to survive temporary immersion. Coil options are 24V DC, 110V AC or 220V AC, and it is made in Taiwan.

ال صندوق مفتاح الحد reports the valve’s open or closed position back to a control room, using two SPDT mechanical switches inside an IP67 enclosure, and mounts on any NAMUR-compatible pneumatic actuator, not only ours. It is a pneumatic accessory: the electric actuator already outputs its own dry-contact open/close feedback, so it does not use this box.

ال bracket and linkage kit is the part that bridges a mismatch: a 304 stainless mounting bracket plus a stem coupler, built to the ISO 5211 interface, sized to your specific valve and actuator combination. It also does a second job on hot lines, setting the actuator back from the valve body so the gap keeps heat away from the actuator’s seals and electronics.

OEM and private label

Private label terms, laser marking, steel stamping, adhesive labels or a printed box carrying your brand, with an NDA and engineering support available on request, apply to the actuator as well as the valve, so a complete valve-and-actuator assembly can ship under your brand. Our guide to OEM vs ODM valve manufacturing covers where the line sits between the two arrangements.

Requesting a quote for the valve and actuator together

The electric actuator is available from stock; other sizes and configurations are made to order. Samples are available, free of charge or at a cost depending on the product. Tell us the valve size, the medium, DA or SR (or AC or DC for the electric actuator), the fail position you need, and any accessories, and we will quote the actuator and valve as one assembly. Browse the rest of our مجموعة المنتجات if you are still narrowing down the valve series.

الأسئلة الشائعة

What does it mean to buy from a valve actuator manufacturer instead of two separate suppliers?

It means the company that cast and CNC machined the ball valve also built the actuator driving it, rather than importing an actuator from a third-party brand and reselling it as a package. The practical difference shows up at the interface: the ISO 5211 mounting pad, the stem coupling and, for a pneumatic actuator, the NAMUR interface are matched before the parts ship, since the same company builds both, instead of being reconciled by the buyer or an integrator after two separate deliveries arrive.

Should I buy the valve and actuator from one manufacturer, or source the actuator separately?

For a standard on/off duty in a size and configuration we carry, buying both from one factory removes a coordination step: one supplier, one point of contact, and an actuator already matched to the valve’s mounting pad. Source the actuator separately when your specification calls for a particular actuator brand or a rating outside what we build. Send the specification and we will confirm which of our actuators fits, or tell you plainly if it does not.

What is the difference between the electric actuator and the pneumatic actuator you build?

The electric actuator (YZ-25) runs on AC 110/220/380V single phase or DC 24/48V, needs no compressed air, and closes the valve automatically on power loss using its own battery. It fits 3/8 inch to 1-1/4 inch quarter-turn valves and is rated for indoor installation, 0°C to 45°C. The pneumatic actuator is rack-and-pinion, aluminum alloy, running on 4 to 8 bar compressed air, available double acting or spring return, rated -20°C to 80°C, and available on valve sizes from 3/8 inch to 4 inch through our V-3AM series.

What do I need to tell you before you can quote a valve and actuator package?

Four things are specific to buying the valve and actuator together: whether you need AC or DC for the electric actuator, or DA or SR for the pneumatic actuator; the fail position you need if power or air is lost; which accessories you need, a solenoid valve or a position switch box; and whether you already hold an actuator that the valve needs to match. Send those along with the standard valve details, size, pressure, temperature and medium, and we can quote the actuator and valve as one assembly.

Does the actuator ship already mounted on the valve?

On our pneumatic 3-piece ball valve with actuator (V-3AM), yes: the actuator is mounted on the valve at our factory, the assembly is tested before shipping, and the two ship as one unit, so there is no bracket or coupling to align on your side. The electric actuator (YZ-25) is sold on its own; tell us the valve size and end connection you need and we can supply it mounted on a ball valve as a complete assembly.

Summary

Buying both from one factory puts the fit between them on one supplier. We make our own actuators, and we also build the ball valve they mount on. Where the actuator ships mounted on the valve, that is stated as a specific, checkable claim: our V-3AM pneumatic series ships that way. For a standard on/off duty in stainless, tell us the size, the medium, the fail position and the power source you have on site, and we will quote the valve and actuator as one assembly.
