The male end screws directly into a tank outlet, pump housing or machine connection, while the female end accepts the next pipe or hose adapter.<\/p>\n<p>This arrangement replaces a separate nipple-and-valve combination. It shortens the assembly and removes one threaded joint that could become a leak point.
